Welcome to the St.
Joseph School web site.
The institution is 100 years young. I have had the
distinct honor of serving at the school for
thirty-four years. I have been the principal for the
last thirty-one years.
We are a dynamic educational institution centered on
the Gospel. We are the largest Catholic grade school
in the Pacific Northwest. There are three classes at
each grade level. We have additional specialized
staff for music, art, library, technology, counseling
and physical education. We also have a department
dedicated as a Learning Resource program. All of
these are detailed in the appropriate areas of this
web site. I encourage you to visit and browse topics
that may be of special interest to you.
There is a strong sense of community that the school
is built upon. Parents are very involved in the
school. They help in the classroom and coach. They
are active in a multitude of committees and
governance bodies.
All who work at the school seek to understand and
develop the whole child. Academic life, spiritual
life, physical life and civic responsibilities are
developed and nurtured. The institution fosters the
concept of stewardship in everyone and calls upon the
development of servant-leadership.
A good deal of time and resources are invested in
staff development. We believe we must always
challenge ourselves to do our best and to be our
best. Recently, staff members were in-serviced in Dr
Mel Levine’s Schools Attuned Program. That philosophy
has become basic to our approach to teaching.
Our curriculum is standard and traditional. It is
sequential flowing from one grade to the next. The
overwhelming majority of our graduates continue in
Catholic or private schools.
We prepare our students for the tomorrow that will
come. So, if you want to give your child a head start
on tomorrow, enroll in St. Joseph School today.
We think our web site is fantastic, but we are even
better in person, so stop by sometime.
Thanks for taking the time to read my little
introduction.
