St. Joseph School Supplies List

This list shows which supplies students from each of the nine grade levels are asked to provide. The teachers meet annually to determine which supplies will be needed by the students for work in the classroom as well as at home over the course of the school year. In some cases, teachers will ask parents to re-stock certain items midway through the school year as things like glue sticks, markers, and paper towels often run out. These items are specially marked on the St. Joseph School Supplies List and the individual teachers will let you know if they are running low and need donations. While every effort is made to anticipate the type and quantity of each item the students will need, differences among students and how they use their supplies may mean that your child will need more or less than is requested.

Students are asked to bring all of the items listed for their grade level with them on the first day of school. As some of the supplies will become “community property,” parents are asked to follow the specific instructions given for marking the supplies with their child’s name. Please mark only the supplies that the teacher has requested labeled on the St. Joseph School Supplies List*. In the upper grades, the teacher will spend time with the students the first week of school showing them how to organize their supplies, which to label with their name, and which to take home or store in their lockers until needed.

Please note that students in the 7th and 8th grades bring the same supplies. For a number of the grades, including 7th and 8th grade, certain cleaning and storage items are divided amongst the girls and the boys so you will need to read the list carefully.

Families wishing to save money and time and avoid doing the shopping themselves, while at the same time helping the school raise funds, may purchase an individually packed St. Joseph School Supplies Kit for each of their children.

Families choosing not to purchase a kit can still support the school’s fundraising effort by remembering to mention St. Joseph School at check-out time when shopping at Office Depot. Their “(Giving) Back to Schools” program offered year-round results in the school earning rebate checks which can then be used by the school to purchase office and school supplies for the teachers and support staff. Parents can also use the OfficeMax Retail Connect cards for discounts year-round. The school and Fulcrum Foundation each receive a 1.5% rebate on these purchases when you use the card.
