Financial Aid

St. Joseph School uses School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), to provide an objective, consistent methodology for calculating a family’s ability to contribute to tuition. The school makes the final decision on each student’s financial aid.

  1. Starting Nov. 1, 2016, go to http:sss.nais.org.
Note: only one (1) application is required for each family, (unless the family maintains more than one (1) household). Divorced or separated parents must each complete an SSS application and submit the supporting documentation before the student can be considered for financial aid.
  2. The St. Joseph school code is 4137. The fee is $48 for the online application, unless a fee waiver is granted by SSS, payable by credit, debit card PayPal or eCheck.
  3. Create a user name and password which allows you to save without submitting a completed application so that you can go back to it later.
  4. Follow the "Complete your Parents' Financial Statement (PFS)" link and begin your application.
  5. Upload copies of the required documents (listed below) to your SSS account OR email, mail, or return to the Business Office.

Additional required documents:

If SSS already has your supporting documentation from your previous years' application, you do not need to send it again. If you are unsure if the school has the necessary forms, please contact the Business Office

  • 2015 & 2016 Federal Income Taxes, including all schedules and forms
  • IRS Form 4506-T (sign and date)
  • 2015 & 2016 W-2’s and 1099’s
  • Additional documents may be requested.
  • In addition to documentation above, Business Owners are required to submit: 2015 & 2016 K1's, etc. by April 1.

The PFS and all additional required documents are due: February 24, 2017.

It is the family’s responsibility to ensure that their financial aid file is complete and accurate. Incomplete files cannot be reviewed, and therefore the student cannot be considered for financial aid.

SSS Customer Service is available to answer your questions at 1-800-344-8328 , Monday through Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm and Saturday from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm PST.

Families are notified of their financial aid award as part of the tuition contract. The school awards financial aid based on the family's documented ability to pay, not the family's willingness to pay. There is a formal appeal process for families wishing to dispute their financial aid award which may require additional household income and asset information be submitted to the committee for consideration. Families who want to appeal should notify the Business Office by March.
