St. Joseph Dress Code

The following guidelines apply to both uniforms and free dress: 

• All clothing fits, not too tightly or extremely loose. 
• There should be no holes, tears or other signs of excessive wear. 
• Pants and skirts must be hemmed. 
• There are no visible marks, drawings, or tattoos on your person. 
• Jewelry is discreet, only ears may be pierced, only stud earrings may be worn at school, no hoops or dangling earrings. 
• Hair is a natural hair color; kept clean and neat. 
• Hats are not to be worn inside the buildings. 
• Tank tops or spaghetti straps must be covered by an appropriate shirt. 
• Shirts or dresses are long enough to cover the midriff, no exposed skin at the stomach or deep, low cut necklines. 
• Undershirts are white, no visible writing or pictures, undershirts must not show. 
• Shorts and skirts are longer than mid-thigh, should be at the top of the knee. 
• Pants and skirts are worn at the waist, which is above the hips. 
• Shoes and socks are worn at school; flip-flops, platforms and backless shoes are not acceptable.

Grades K-4

• Jumper or skort in “white plaid”, available through Lands’ End (preferred school number 9000-3157-6)
• Blouses and Shirts
• Plain white blouse or shirt with collar, long or short-sleeves, no lace or ruffles
• Plain white polo, long or short-sleeves
• Plain white turtleneck
• Pants, Shorts and Skorts, available through Lands’ End and other stores
• Classic navy, tailored, correctly sized, below knee cords or pants; no stretch pants
• Classic navy walking shorts or skorts; no sweat shorts, no short shorts, and no sweatpants
• Official St. Joseph navy sweatshirt, crew neck or hoody (available by order at St. Joseph School) No other sweatshirts allowed
• Approved classic navy sweaters from Lands’ End

Grades 5-8

• Skirts or skorts in “white plaid” or khaki, available through Lands’ End (preferred school number 9000-3157-6)
• Blouses and Shirts
• Plain white blouse or shirt with collar, long or short-sleeves
• Plain white or evergreen polo, long or short-sleeves
• Plain white or evergreen turtleneck
• Khaki pants or shorts available through Lands’ End and other stores
• Khaki, tailored, correctly sized, below knee cords or pants, no stretch pants, no sweatpants
• Khaki walking shorts or skorts; no sweat shorts, no short shorts
• Official St. Joseph evergreen sweatshirt, crew neck or hoodie (Available by order at St. Joseph School)
• No other sweatshirt allowed.
  
• Approved evergreen sweaters from Lands’ End

All Grades

• Socks must be worn. Tights and leggings permitted in plain white, navy or black only.
• Hats may only be worn outside the school buildings.
• Uniform clothing should be in good repair and fit properly. There should be no holes, tears or other signs of excessive wear.
