Learning Resource Center at St. Joseph

"All students can learn and succeed, but not on the same day in the same way." William G. Spady

The LRC at St. Joseph School helps to facilitate a successful learning experience for students in grades K-8. Learning resource teachers see individual students, small groups, and work in classrooms to assist students and teachers in the learning process. Currently the LRC has three teachers who work with grade levels K-2, 3-5 and 6-8. Please visit their homepages for more information specific to those grade levels.

The LRC is a resource and support to administrators, teachers, and parents. The program provides parents with:

  • Information about learning differences
  • Outside testing resources
  • Advice on tutoring referrals
  • Questions about the St. Joseph School curricula
  • Tips for study skills

Teachers use the LRC for additional ideas on how to meet learning needs of students.  Resources are available to cover topics of learning styles, diagnosing and remediating reading and language difficulties, and for using a wide variety of instructional strategies in content areas.

LRC teachers also oversee meetings of the Student Support Team, which assists the vice principals in monitoring academic and/or behavioral concerns at St. Joseph School. This Student Support Team brings together teachers, the school counselor, the vice principals, and the LRC teachers who work together as a team to ensure that students having difficulties are identified and that a plan is in place to help meet their needs. For additional information please visit the Student Support Team homepage.

The LRC strives to serve the entire community of students, parents, and teachers at St. Joseph School. The goal of the LRC is to help every child experience academic success in a friendly and supportive environment.
