Once you’ve logged in, this is the first screen you will see. Here you’ll be able to view up to the second information about your child’s attendance for last week and this week, as well as up-to-the-second information about your child’s grade. Every time the teacher enters a new assignment score into his or her grade book, the grade for that course will automatically be updated. This way, you will always be able to see what the current final grade your student is earning for each course. If you’d like to find out more information about a particular grade, click on the percentage link below the letter grade.

Once you’ve clicked on the percentage link, you will be able to view a course description if the teacher has posted one. Not every teacher will use the course description - it is optional for teachers - but some teachers like to use the course description as a way to let you know that assignment scores will be kept up-to-date. The teacher in this example posts policies and events as well.

Read Teachers’ Daily Comments for Your Child

Teachers have the ability to type daily comments directly into their grade books. Again, as soon as they type these comments in and save their changes, you’ll be able to view these comments online.

At the end of the term when report cards are due, teachers will clear out their daily comments and post their end-of-term comments. The PowerSchool report card can pull this comment automatically from teachers’ grade books and insert it right into the report card.

Send Email Messages to Your Child’s Teachers

Wherever you are in Parent Access, you can click on the big green “PowerSchool” to return back to the main page.

If one of your child’s teachers has their email address entered into PowerSchool, their name will appear as a hyperlink that you can click on to send that teacher an email message. Using email requires that you each have your own email service at home.

Just click on the teacher’s name, and your email program automatically launches with the teacher’s address automatically inserted into the “To:” line.
