St. Joseph School is
proud to present our current Solar Panel Project.
This past summer of 2009, a 5.37 kW Photovoltaic
Solar Panel system was installed on the roof of the
lower school building. This system collects solar
energy and converts it into electricity which is fed
directly back into the school. A system of this size
would supply 30-50% of the electricity used in an
average home. Because of the size of our school the
panels do not power the entire school, but they do
reduce electrical costs.
This system was
installed as an educational model to help our
students and community gain awareness and recognition
of our energy uses. We hope it will help improve the
outlook on how we interact with and effect our
environment. We now have an online data monitoring
system, which allows anyone to see the amount of
energy the panels have collected over time and see
what they are producing at a given moment. Please
look us up online.
