St. Joseph School K-4 P.E. focuses on fun, personal effort, individual improvement and cooperative play.
Mr. Hayes strives to help students develop these habits and traits as they participate in activities and lessons focusing on the fundamentals of a variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, and XC/track. Each lesson includes time for a large group game where the kids can play together, learn and grow socially as well as athletically.
Students in grades 5-8 have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, games, and activities. As they grow and mature, they integrate more complex skills and strategies and exhibit increasing abilities in the class.
Students will be given a chance to play traditional sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, team handball, etc. They will also be able to work on a variety of individual or pair skills including frisbee toss, juggling, stilts, buddy walker relays, pitching, hoop shoot, and others. Assorted activities that are not traditional team sports or individual skill-builders include Survivor, Obstacle Course, Car Lot, Capture the Pins, Octopus, and more. Each class is comprised of diverse range of abilities and interests, it is our goal to integrate players of all levels and skills and give each child a chance to succeed to the best of his or her abilities. The confidence and satisfaction that comes from having tried one's best is often a palpable accomplishment. Mr. McShane encourages students to respect peers, teachers, facilities/equipment and oneself, demonstrate knowledge of the importance of an active lifestyle, increase proficiency of movements, skills and strategies, demonstrate a willingness to participate and most important have fun!
I like P.E. because we play fun games and move around a lot.
