Outreach from a local, national and global perspective is an important component of the work we do here at St. Joseph School. Students at St. Joseph are encouraged to volunteer in the community.

Our calendar year is filled with several outreach collections and service activities.

Many students volunteer on their own accord, qualifying them for the Paul Hirning Service Award. However, the following are programs ingrained in the school curriculum.

Three times each year, the seventh and eighth grade students volunteer at various locations in the Seattle area. These students work with their advisory groups and mentors as a team to best serve their areas of interest. Some students help sort recyclables for the city, while others serve food to the less fortunate. Here is a list of some of our organizations:

  • Northwest Harvest
  • Seattle Children's
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Women's Shelter at Union Gospel Mission
  • Francis House
  • St. Martin de Porres
  • Millionaire's Club
  • Jubilee Center
  • St. Vincent de Paul
  • WestSide Baby
  • U-District Food Bank
  • Aegis

Outreach makes me feel like I'm changing the world, a little step at a time.
